Goliath Birdeater

Type: New World Terrestrial / Burrower
Other Common Names: Goliath Birdeater, Goliath Bird-eating Spider
Care Difficulty: Intermediate - Advanced
Size: Definitely one of the world's largest, capable of reaching 11-12". Much more stockier than Theraphosa apophysis.
Growth speed: Relatively fast, depending on gender. Males will grow faster than females.
Temperament: Defensive/aggressive. Has the capability to stridulate and possesses painful urticating hairs. Use caution around this species.
Temperature: 75-80 degrees F
Humidity: At least 80%
Substrate: 5-8" of moist substrate.
Enclosure: Spiderlings should be housed in small, but appropriate size containers. Juveniles can be housed in medium sized critter keepers. Large adults may be housed in 10-20 gallon terrariums.
